Build Your Own Portable Countertop Reverse Osmosis System
The Max Water MiniMax is a compact portable countertop reverse osmosis system designed for apartments, rental homes, offices, aquariums, RVs, and other locations where a permanent under-sink installation is not practical.
The system connects to a compatible kitchen faucet using a diverter valve. Purified water is dispensed through the included gooseneck spout, while the drain water returns directly to the sink.
With the standard 50 GPD membrane and approximately 60 PSI feed pressure, the system may produce up to about 2 gallons of purified water per hour. When used without a storage tank, the direct-flow production rate is approximately 0.13 litres per minute under suitable conditions.
Production Notice: Countertop systems produce purified water gradually. Actual output depends on feed-water pressure, temperature, TDS, membrane capacity, membrane condition, and system configuration.
For Higher Water Demand: A larger membrane or optional storage tank may be helpful when the system will supply more than one person or when a larger amount of purified water is needed at one time.
Why Choose the MiniMax?
- No permanent plumbing modification is normally required
- Ideal for apartments, condos, rental homes, offices, and RVs
- Compact design fits on most countertops
- Diverter valve allows quick connection to a compatible faucet
- Drain water returns directly to the sink
- Suitable for drinking water, aquariums, coffee, tea, and cooking
- Can be customized with DI filtration, a tank, pump, meter, or valves
Four Stages of Filtration
- Stage 1: 5-micron inline polypropylene sediment filter Part No. 104040
- Stage 2: Inline T33 coconut-shell granular activated carbon filter Part No. 104041
- Stage 3: Thin-film composite RO membrane, 50 GPD standard configuration Part No. 104092
- Stage 4: Inline T33 coconut-shell post-carbon polishing filter Part No. 104041
The standard configuration also includes a two-way faucet diverter valve and a gooseneck dispensing spout. Additional upgrades may be selected during checkout.
Optional Parts and Accessories
DI Deionization Filter
Add a mixed-bed DI filter when very low-TDS water is required for reef aquariums, laboratory use, hydroponics, dental equipment, autoclaves, or other specialty applications.
A properly operating DI stage may reduce final water to approximately 0 ppm TDS, depending on RO membrane performance, feed-water TDS, resin condition, and water usage.
Manual Membrane Flush Kit
A flush kit temporarily increases water flow across the membrane's drain side to help rinse away accumulated dissolved solids.
Regular flushing may help support membrane performance and service life.
Booster Pump Kit
Add a booster pump when incoming water pressure is below the recommended operating range.
A typical pump kit includes a booster pump, transformer, and high-pressure shut-off switch. The pump must be matched to the selected RO membrane capacity.
Faucet Diverter Valve
The faucet diverter allows the RO system to connect directly to a compatible kitchen faucet without permanent plumbing changes. This is especially useful for apartments and rental properties.
Compatibility Notice: Not every faucet is compatible with a countertop diverter valve. Pull-out, pull-down, spray-head, and specialty faucets may require a different connection method.
Two-Way Diverter Valve – Standard Setup
In the standard countertop configuration, the diverter supplies feed water to the RO system and returns the drain water directly to the sink.
Because the drain water returns through the diverter, a permanent drain saddle or drain clamp is normally not required.
Pressurized Storage Tank Kit
Add a pressurized storage tank when you want purified water stored and available on demand instead of waiting for direct production.
The tank package should include the required tank valve and compatible automatic shut-off components.
Automatic Shut-Off Valve
An automatic shut-off valve stops feed and drain flow when a compatible pressurized tank becomes full or when a properly configured product-water outlet closes.
Select this option when using a faucet, float valve, storage tank, or manual outlet valve and automatic system shutdown is required.
Important: Without a compatible automatic shut-off valve, closing the purified-water outlet may stop product water while drain water continues to flow.
Inline Ball Valve
An inline ball valve provides manual on-and-off control of the purified-water line without disconnecting the faucet diverter or shutting off the main water supply.
For full automatic system shutdown, the ball valve must be used with a compatible automatic shut-off configuration.
Float Valve
A float valve controls the water level inside an open storage container, aquarium reservoir, or hydroponic tank.
When the water reaches the selected level, the float closes the product-water outlet. A compatible automatic shut-off valve, pressure switch, or solenoid may also be required to stop the feed and drain flow completely.

Water-Safety Warning: This system is intended for use with a microbiologically safe water supply. Do not use it as the only treatment for water of unknown biological quality without suitable testing, pretreatment, or disinfection.
Filter Replacement: Under normal residential conditions, sediment and carbon filters should generally be replaced every 6–12 months. Actual filter life depends on water quality, pressure, temperature, and usage.
Performance Notice: Production rate, TDS reduction, drain ratio, and filter life are approximate and may vary according to feed-water pressure, temperature, TDS, membrane selection, filter condition, and installation quality.

TDS = Total Dissolved Solids.
