2-stage 20"x 4.5" Big Blue System Whole House System
2-Stage 20" × 4.5" Big Blue Whole-House Water Filtration System
Improve the water quality throughout your home, cottage, office, or light-commercial property with this high-capacity 2-stage Big Blue whole-house filtration system.
The system combines a sediment filter and a coconut-shell granular activated carbon filter to help reduce dirt, rust, silt, chlorine, unpleasant tastes, odours, and selected organic contaminants before the water reaches your faucets, showers, appliances, and plumbing.
The oversized 20-inch × 4.5-inch filter housings provide greater dirt-holding capacity, longer filter life, and higher flow potential than standard residential filter housings. This helps reduce maintenance frequency while supporting strong household water flow.
Ideal for: Homes, cottages, lake houses, offices, restaurants, workshops, municipal-water treatment, and pre-filtration before reverse osmosis or other water-treatment equipment.
Choose Your Connection Size
Select the correct inlet and outlet connection size during checkout:
- 3/4-inch NPT ports: Maximum estimated flow up to approximately 35 GPM
- 1-inch NPT ports: Maximum estimated flow up to approximately 40 GPM
Standard Flow Direction: Water enters through the right-side port and exits through the left-side port when viewing the system from the front.
Please verify your plumbing size before ordering. The selected 3/4-inch or 1-inch housing configuration cannot be easily changed after assembly.
Two Stages of Filtration
- Stage 1: 5-Micron Polypropylene Sediment Filter
Helps capture sand, rust, dirt, silt, scale particles, and other suspended material. Part No. 104112 - Stage 2: Coconut-Shell Granular Activated Carbon Filter
Helps reduce chlorine, unpleasant taste, odour, and selected organic contaminants. Part No. 104113
Helps Reduce
- Sediment, sand, silt, dirt, and rust particles
- Chlorine taste and odour
- Unpleasant tastes and smells
- Turbidity and visible water discoloration
- Selected pesticides and herbicides
- Selected volatile organic compounds
- Selected trihalomethanes
- Selected MTBE compounds
Important: Actual contaminant reduction depends on the incoming water quality, contaminant concentration, flow rate, contact time, filter condition, and system maintenance.

Recommended Applications
- Whole-house sediment and chlorine filtration
- Homes and cottages
- Lake houses and seasonal properties
- Offices and small commercial buildings
- Restaurants and food-service applications
- Reverse osmosis pre-filtration
- Manufacturing and process-water pre-filtration
- Industrial water-treatment systems
- Recycled-water filtration
- Low-viscosity process-fluid filtration
Installation Recommendations
- Install the system on the main cold-water line
- Install after the pressure tank when used with a private well
- Use shut-off and bypass valves for easier maintenance
- Support the system securely using the supplied steel bracket
- Allow sufficient space below the housings for filter replacement
- Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure
- Install a pressure regulator if incoming pressure is too high
- Check all connections for leaks before full operation
Pressure Protection: For best performance and longer housing life, maintain feed-water pressure near 40–60 PSI. Install a pressure regulator if the incoming pressure exceeds the recommended range.
Filter Replacement: Replace the sediment filter when it becomes visibly dirty or when water pressure begins to drop. Replace the carbon filter when chlorine, taste, or odour begins to return, or according to water usage and local water conditions.
